Private Flight lessons, with pre and post flight briefings, run on a regular basis from April to October by appointment. Full Immersion 3-7 day all inclusive courses are available. Includes all lessons and equipment. Camping is available on site.
Introductory Tandem Hang Gliding Fun Flights are available by appointment from April to October in the open air, two place, self launch Hang Glider Trike, where we power up and glide down. An in air, high quality, SLR digital photo is included. Or fly in the 2 place Renegade open cockpit Bi-Plane if available. These FunFlights are an excellent introduction to the sports of Hang Gliding, Triking and Ultralight Aircraft Flying. Educational pre and post flight briefings are included.
Tandem Fun Flight Gift Certificates are also available and they make the perfect birthday, anniversary or special occasion gift, for flight lovers.

This is by far the fastest way to get to solo. For hang gliding we start on the new Wills Wing Condor. The slowest flying specialty training hangglider in the world! Many of the lessons are accomplished quickly by using the motorized hang glider trike. Raven Aviation has found that using the trike saves a lot of time and produces great results. The shallow training hill is on site and the first high flight is off of one of the two mountains on either side of the Freedom Flight Park.
We have now also incorporated a scooter type winch that can pull you up a 5-100 feet off the ground and down a long runway. Once you have gained good control we can pull you higher before going up the mountain for the real HIGH flight!

A little history....
The Chief Flight Instructor for the company, Mr. Randy Rauck, has been flying and training people how to fly from the same aerodrome / Flight Park, off and on, since 1976 when Saddle Mountain Soaring School became one of the first certified Hang Gliding Schools in Canada.
In 1978, Canadian Ultralight Aircraft Ltd. was opened here and became one of the first Certified Ultralight Schools in Canada and the very first Ultralight float based school in Canada.
Canadian Ultralight Aircraft also mounted and tested the first Rotax engine installations with Ron Shettler and then became the first authorized Rotax engine dealer for Ron after he secured the North American distributorship for the engines use with Ultralights in 1978.
Randy has accumulated over 1000 hours in Hang Gliders and over 1000 Ultralight Aircraft hours on wheels, floats and snow skis.
He is also a current licensed private pilot with a night rating and has logged over 750 hours on many different Cessna's, Pipers's and homebuilts.
The semi arid climate of the Okanagan Valley area is ideal for soaring Hang Gliders, Paragliders, Ultralight Sail Planes, Sailplanes Motor Gliders and flying Ultralights.
The Lumby Valley is known by many pilots the world over as a great place to get high and race around triangle courses because of the excellent consistent lift and generally low valley winds.
The town of Lumby has been host to more than 10 national soaring championships over the years.
The valleys many beautiful lakes, and beaches and warm summer temperatures offer a seductive attraction for float plane pilots of all types.
